市役所に届けものをした帰り、

ふと、「結構上の階まで来たから屋上に行ってみようかな」と思い立つ。

階段を登ってきた老夫婦と思われるお二人に遭遇。

富士山を見て、

「あら、雲がかかってちょっと隠れちゃったね」

「さっきは見えてたのにね」

夫婦の何気ない会話が聞こえてきた。

このまちの人たちは、話のきっかけが富士山であることも多々ある。

After delivering something to the city hall,

I suddenly thought, “Since I’m already this high up, I might as well go to the rooftop.”

I encountered an elderly couple coming down the stairs.

Looking at Mount Fuji,

“Oh, it’s a little obscured by clouds,” one of them said.

“But we could see it just a moment ago,” the other replied.

I overheard their casual conversation.

It’s quite common for people in this town to use Mount Fuji as a starting point for conversation.
